This is NOT an impulse purchase. Well, sort of.

For weeks, I’ve been visiting Fully Booked because I saw that they have new Living Language stuff. I was seriouly thinking of studying Italian since I got that Godfather bug. Unfortunately, Italian laguage learning is not big in the Philippines and I don’t know if there is a dedicated school for it. Like, Goethe Institut for German, Alliance Francais for French and Nihongo Center for Japanese. (Naks naman! ^_~)

When my sister learned that I wanted to study Italian, she asked me if I wanted to master all of the “war” languages. (I studied Japanese and German) War? Huh? Then it hit me: Axis power. Oh-kay.

I have the Living Language Ultimate German course (book + audio CDs), which was very helpful when I was starting in basic German.

Naturally, I was intrigued by the “Platinum” bit in the name. I discovered that the platinum one is like ultimate on steroids. In each course, you get 3 books instead of one, 9 audio CDs, one notebook, learning app for iOS or Android, access to online lessons and supplementary activities, and access to e-tutoring (with a real live native speaker). How cool is that, huh?

I am currently in lesson 2 and I am really loving it! The online activities are very engaging and I can see that the lessons build on prior knowledge obtained from previous lessons.

I will write a more comprehensive review when I progress further into the course. In the meantime, ciao ciao!

    Hi!

I was looking for some info about Living Language Platinum and found your site. I’m wondering how much the LL Platinum costs here in the Philippines and whether or not their online course is interactive (ie you taklk to a native speaker or something).

I’m interested in purchasing LL Japanese :)

Thank you so much and looking forward to your response.

      Hi Aye!

Thanks for dropping by. To answer your question, I got the Platinum Italian course for about P8,000. The online course contains basically the same content as the books and audio, except you get to use interactive games, flash cards, etc.
The course also includes sessions with native speakers (short tutorials, question and answer, etc). I haven’t tried it, though because I’m putting the course aside for now. But it is a really good investment, IMHO. :D

Have you tried enrolling in Japanese courses locally? I studied and taught at the Nihongo Center Foundation (Manila) so if you have questions about the school/course, just post away :)
