Benny the Irish Polyglot speaks and sings in Tagalog!

Posted by Cat Ramos

This is an old video of one of my most favourite polyglots, Benny Lewis — more popularly known as the Irish Polyglot. He visited the Philippines for a couple of months. He’s been to Manila, Puerto Galera and Cebu and in this video, he is speaking in Tagalog then goes on to sing the Tagalog version of “Umbrella”, a Parokya ni Edgar song, and a Francis M song. Great job, Benny! Such an inspiration. 🙂 I have his book Fluent in 3 Months, and I plan to purchase premium membership on his website to get full access to a variety of language resources.

Welcome to Manila!

And what does Benny have to say about Filipinos?

My favourite part of the country (apart from the karaoke) was definitely its people! Filipinos are so friendly, open and easy to get along with, and definitely encouraging with people learning their language! After 25 or so countries the Philippines now rank as my second favourite in the world! The top spot continues to be held by Brazil, but that could be challenged when I make it back to the Philippines some day and pick a better place to live in and get to know more people!

Maraming salamat sa pagbisita mo, Benny! Mabuhay ka!

Love it! My favourite thing about learning Tagalog is how every single Filipino seems to think it’s the easiest language in the world to learn. (ummm…not so much. But still encouraging to hear!)

Stephanie: after teaching Tagalog for a while, I know that it’s not the easiest to learn 😀 So when are we going to see a video of you singing like Benny? 🙂
