I finally made a sakura kanzashi (and launched my online store too) ^_^

Posted by Cat Ramos

Took me more than an hour to complete my first sakura kanzashi, but I finally finished it!

For weeks, I have been trying to figure out how to do the notches to make a pronounced sakura petal. Yesterday, I managed to make an entire flower, which I made into a cellphone charm. Woooo!

Here is the result:

Hana tsumami kanzashi, or more commonly known among crafters as kanzashi, are traditional hair ornaments wore by geisha and maiko (apprentice geisha). These accessories were used to add elegance to a geisha’s elaborate coiffure.

I’ve been playing around with these flowers for a few months now, and I just launched my online shop to sell my products. A lot of them are hair accessories but I also made a few other stuff like mobile phone accessories.

I used Japanese female names to identify my items. But I also named them after some very special girls in my life: friends and family who are very close to me and who are positive influences in my life. 🙂

Feel free to take a look around and I hope you find something you like. http://studiokawaii.multiply.com
