Paalam, Tado

Posted by Cat Ramos

Tado Jimenez, Angel Rivero and Ramon Bautista.

The Strangebrew crew is my 2nd most favourite TV trio next to Tito, Vic and Joey.

I still remember all those nights spent in front of the TV, laughing my head off at the antics and adventures of Tado and his pretty driver Erning. I will never forget their tiny car, their pet cactus Joan and the random silly characters that Ramon played. To this date, I still refer to him as “a urban poor”; in one episode, he was a homeless man and he played the taong grasa role to the hilt!

Strangebrew went off the air but Tado remained my idol. I love his weird and smart sense of humour. After reading his book “Nag-iisa Lang Ako”, I learned that he is not only a thinking person’s funny man. He is also a social activist, an environmentalist and a devoted family guy.

His sudden passing was a shock to me. Why does a perfectly good person have to die at such a young age? He had lots of plans and projects on his plate.

If there is someone who deserved to die in that bus crash, it is Pogi, Tanda, Sexy or Napoles. Or all of them. They would be doing the country a favour by disappearing from it. But I digress.

Right now, 4 young girls, 4 daughters are mourning. Losing your father, someone you considered your own rock star, is very hard. And it hurts like hell. It makes you feel like dying too. It may get easy with time but you will never really get over it.

But right now, they can also find comfort in other people — those whose lives their father had touched, those who he had helped in one way or another. Listen to them and relive the memories of your dad. Your father is a Pinoy super hero — you must be very proud.

Thank you, Tado. You will be missed. 20140209-231854.jpg
