Rurouni Kenshin: Rekindling the Japanese flame in me

Posted by Cat Ramos

It took one film to get me interested in Japanese again. Rurouni Kenshin has rekindled my lukewarm emotions for all things Japanese. This film has got to be the best I have seen in recent years. It has all the things I love: samurai, fight scenes, beautiful scenery, a bit of comedy, brilliant dialogue. And none of the things I don’t (e.g. Fukada Kyoko?). I cannot stop gushing at how excellent the cast is. Sato Takeru made me a believer when I saw him in the first movie and now I am a fan, through and through. Same with Aoi Yuu.

But I wish people would also appreciate the others who were also stellar in their roles: Fujiwara Tatsuya and Eguchi Yousuke. Fujiwara Tatsuya as Shishio? A fangirl’s dream come true. And Eguchi-san? It’s like watching Shinsengumi all over again!

They will be back for the 3rd installment, which will open next month in Manila…and the main reason for my stupid excitement? Fukuyama Masaharu, of course. Really looking forward to seeing him again with Takeru-kun…a throwback to the taiga series “Ryomaden” <3

Fukuyama Masaharu as Hiko Seijuurou
Fukuyama Masaharu as Hiko Seijuurou, Guro ni Kenshin 😀
