Corazon Aquino, 76

Posted by Cat Ramos

I stopped watching the news for many reasons. I rarely pick up the newspapers too. I only read stuff related to finance and most of the papers that I do pick up are the financial ones scattered around the office.

It was my boyfriend who texted me that President Cory had passed away. I was too sleepy to even understand 50% of the message. When I was fully awake, I re-read the text and was really saddened.

I remembered seeing a lot of President Cory in Greenbelt Chapel, when I still attended the lunchtime masses. She was always smiling and she had a serene aura about her. Sometimes I thought of going up to her to shake hands or to just say ‘hi’, but the presence of bodyguards scared me. So I just had to be content with watching her from across pews. (I did a quick blog search and found my only post about here. It’s HERE)

Let us thank the Lord that He has given us a beautiful person like Cory Aquino, who has led us to democracy, to where we are now. We are enjoying so much freedom because she led the fight for it.

Goodbye, President Corazon Aquino. You will not be forgotten.
