DIY beach-themed mirror

Posted by Cat Ramos

My father has had a crappy green mirror in his house for the longest time. It belonged to my sister and left it with him when she moved to a new house.

When we moved into the new house last year, the mirror came with us. I didn’t have a full-length mirror of my own and this was perfect for my room. If only it wasn’t so ugly.

An idea came to me after browsing Pinterest. My bedroom was to have a beach theme and — why not give the mirror a coastal makeover!

I already had lots of shells collected from previous trips. All I needed was a nice-looking rope. I originally wanted thick cotton rope but I couldn’t find some and I thought it might look too nautical. I needed something more rustic looking.

Then I saw some hemp rope from Japan Home — perfect!! Each pack contains 3 rolls of rope and costs P88 per pack. For this project, I needed 2 packs.

Rope – check!
Shells – check!
hot glue gun – check!

This is actually very easy to do. I just glued the rope on the edges of the mirror, making sure to completely hide the ugly green color. Then I glued the shells in random places all over the rope. Done in no time!

I love DIY!
