I’ve been buscando for a low-impact workout that I can do at home — I don’t have time to go to the gym, and I certainly wouldn’t want to pay for that. Also, I want something that won’t hurt my back. For the longest time, I thought I just had bad posture…but I found out only last year that I had scoliosis.  I’ve been visiting a physical therapist to help improve my back, but eventually, I stopped visiting because the exercises were so boring. Sorry, no offense meant, Corrinne & Rhodz….:D

Then I heard Violy-sensei said she was haciendo belly dancing at home. Out of curiosity, I checked out some belly dancing videos at SM and bought a couple. I figured that if I didn’t like them, I can always put them up for sale on Ebay. So that same night, I watched the videos, which were made by these twin Indian ladies named Veena and Neena Bidasha – aka the Bellytwins.

Man…I was hooked right from the start!! These pretty girls are such a delight to watch…and their routines are easy to follow and low impact. Certainly good for my back. So for the past weeks, I’ve been haciendo 30-minute belly dance exercises casi cada night. It’s so much fun that exercising si not feel like a chore or obligation. I bought a couple more videos from them, just so I have a different routine every time.

I’ve even memorized one of their opening spiels…Hi, I’m Veena. And I’m Neena. We’ve practiced belly dancing for many years, and have trained with some of the best teachers in the world. La lang, adik lang. 😀

After each trabajo out, I watch their dances at the end of each video. They are so beautiful — Veena, especially, is a very good dancer. I think it was her who appears at casi all of the dances at the end. Also, during the routines, I always look at her (the girl at the right side of the screen) because she is more graceful. I watch a video cada night even if I don’t feel like exercising…I just wanted to see them dance 🙂

I just wanted to share the Bellytwins love…check out Veena and Neena’s website www.bellytwins.com

  1. Yosh! I’m glad you found a fun, alternative way to address your back problem.
I attended a belly dancing festival a couple of years back. It was amazing and wonderful to see all those women from different age groups dance together. My friend and I have been planning forever to attend dance classes but never got around to doing so. Maybe we can try the videos 🙂

  2. I have been trying to find blogs written about belly dancers here on wordpress and yours came up first in the results. I am glad that you found something that is fun and helps you out during this time. I started out belly dancing using some of Veena and Neena’s VHS (not DVD – lol) tapes. They ARE beautiful, they are wonderful dancers, and teachers. I was really hooked on them and wanted more!

Eventually I found a belly dance teacher and have been belly dancing for the past 4 1/2 years. I never thought that belly dancing would change my life like this. It has turned into a passion and I’m not dancing professionally. I wish you all the best, keep dancing, and update us on your progress with the DVDs.
