The Comeback Cats are at it again: UST overcame a lousy 2nd and 3rd quarters to turn back the UP Fighting Maroons, 75-68, at the SM MOA Arena on Saturday.
UP led for the most part of the game, due to the heroics of Mike Silungan, Jelo Montecastro and fearless center Raul Soyud. But back-to-back 3-point plays by Jeric Fortuna sparked a 16-0 UST run in the middle of the 4th period. “Captain Fort”, who was nursing a fever during during the game, finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds (and no fouls, I just have to add that). 😉
Karim Abdul and Aljon Mariano topscored for the Tigers with 16 points each. Abdul, known to UST fans as Mr. Everything, also hauled down 21 rebounds for another double-double performance. He now holds the record for the most number of rebounds in a single UAAP game, breaking the previous record of 20 boards by NU’s Emmanuel Mbe.
The Tigers improve to solo 2nd with 9-3 while UP drops to 1-11.
Oh look, I met Pido Jarencio ^_^
