Finally, the last of the Battle Rounds!
1. Wade vs James Massone (True Colors) – Wade was an instant fave after that performance of “Rehab” during the Blind Auditions; I thought he would just kill this song since his voice fits the sound. He and James had a great harmony going, even if I think James sounded too Backstreet Boys for me. Surprisingly, James was brilliant during the performance and I really hated that Wade is going home. But I think Ceelo made a good choice when he chose James.
2. Mathai vs Nicole Galyon (Love Song) – Mathai’s swagger is quite entertaining but Nicole sounded really simple and clean. I wish Adam hadn’t taken her piano away just so she can show her piano playing skills that got her into Team Adam in the first place.
3. The Line vs Moses Stone (Satisfaction) – An odd pairing and an odd choice of song. The Line’s dynamics and harmony is really great but as the song progressed, they sounded more like Moses’ backup vocalists rather than his competition. His talent and energy just overshadowed them.
4. Karla Davis vs Orlando Napier (Easy) – True to the song, it was so relaxing to listen to these two! Orlando’s performance is so great and Karla’s voice is really soothing. I was rooting for Orlando “Tom Riddle” all the way and I was sad to see him go. Why did you have to be so good, Karla Davis?! No matter, at least, Lord Voldemort moves on to the next round! (see battle #6). 🙂
5. Naia Kete vs Jordan Rager (I’m Yours) – Oh, a song made for Naia! A favorite song by a favorite artist sung by a favorite the Voice hopeful. This is all you, Naia. Go into the Live Shows and kill Erin Martin! 😛
6. Tony Vincent vs Justin Hopkins (Faithfully) – Initially, I thought it was Lord Voldemort all the way. But Justin’s raw power made me think the Dark Lord will lose in the end (maybe Justin’s middle name is Potter). It was so close! But thankfully, Tony moves on to the Live Shows. Really felt bad for Justin, because the man obviously has great talent too.
That last one promised to be another epic vocal battle — I had high hopes just because Tony Vincent’s in it. It was great but it was nowhere near the vicinity of the battle-to-end-all-battles Anthony Evans-Jesse Campbell performance!
There you have it, the last of the battle rounds. Next week, we see the coaches with their teams of 6 artists. So excited how things will turn out for the remaining artists! ^_^
