Voltes V ending theme – 父をもとめて

Over lunch, my teammates and I were talking about old TV shows and Voltes V came up. We reminisced about Steve, Big Bert and Little John — and of course, the haunting ending theme, Chichi wo motomete (Searching for Father).

My favourite line used to be: 泣くものか、僕は男だ. Quite a TNL (tunay na lalake) line — why should I cry, I am a man.

But since I lost Papa, the song now has a whole new meaning for me. It is the feeling of always looking for a father, chasing after his shadow, trying to find the happiness that was lost when he left. That’s exactly how I feel until now. Anyway, here’s the link to the song — WP won’t let me post the iFrame code here.

PS: Just a bit of info: not all Japanese are familiar with Voltes V. They have tons of these shows and it’s not possible to watch everything. 🙂
