So, another year has come and gone…and here we are, in 2009. I realized while we were at that street party in Makati that I will be 29 years old this year. What an ugly number. But no matter, at least my 28th was really, really good — career-wise, relationship-wise…so I am hoping that things will also be better on my 29th.
Anyway, so that street party, I made it in time for the countdown. I had an hour to spare to eat and take in the sights before the fireworks show. I came straight from the office — Louise and Jas wanted me to leave the office by 10pm, so nice of them to do so — then the driver dropped me off EDSA corner Ayala. Schatz picked me up in front of Rustans, where they had these really cute display windows many people (local and foreign) would stop by to have their pictures taken. It was a wet New Year’s eve, ne?
At first, I wanted to drag Schatz home, just curl up in front of the TV, sip hot coffee and watch Kouhaku Utagassen on NHK. But I am glad I stayed, the show was OK, but the fireworks were brilliant! I think the fireworks show lasted for more than 15 minutes — it was so colorful and bright. I especially like those ones that spread like fireflies. It was really cool. I wondered what happened to the fireworks over at The Fort though. I saw the preparations at that big lot near Seibu. Not sure if many people went to see it. All in all, the Makati party went really well despite the rain — until some idiot host shouted “Mabuhay ang susunod na pangulo ng Pilipinas, Jejomar Binay!”. Bakero. That totally ruined the mood for me. It was really unnecessary, and some idiot thought it was cool to shout something like that — for goodness’ sake, it wasn’t a fucking political rally. Sheesh.
What a nice, nice day. A lovely change from my usual Saturday life. No school, no work…just me at home in my pajamas, eating breakfast in bed while watching a good J-dorama. I couldn’t sleep early last night, and ended up going to bed at 4am so this morning, I wanted to sleep longer, but I thought I heard someone knocking at my door. Turns out that some idiots a couple of doors down are having “something” and making all that noise. I am surprised no one has complained to the guards. So this is how idiots spend Saturdays. Good thing I don’t have to deal with this every week. Gosh, idiots shouldn’t be allowed to live in condominiums and apartments buildings.
Yesterday, I was back to work. I guess it wasn’t so bad because there were a couple of people there aside from me. It does suck that I had to work on a holiday. I am getting used to it, but I still complain every now and then. I expect a huge sum in the next pay day!! Schatz called me on my cellphone when I was already at the office, asking me if I could pop out for a bit because he was on the Fort bus and was headed my way and that he had something for me. It was rare of him to visit my office, considering he had no business in that area so I was really curious what it was. When we met, he handed me….a bento!! He made a girlfriend bento for me!! I was so touched at the gesture, because it was really unexpected, and so unlike him to do something like that. But wow. And it was so yummy too! Here is his sweet surprise:
2. Unagi (eel)
4. Chahan (fried rice)
