I got a set of nail art pens from Ebay.ph late last year but it is only now that I finally put it to good use. I was a little inspired over the weekend and decided to try my hand at cutesy nail art. So I went ahead and made cherry blossoms!

It is a little late for sakura — certainly, the cherry blossom season has ended in Japan but what the heck, right? 😉

Here are the colors/products I used for my sakura nail art:

  • Caronia nail polish in Posh – lovely frosted pink that enhances the pink-white combo of the cherry blossoms
  • nail art pens in pink, white, black and green
  • base coat
  • Bobbie natural colored nail polish

After the usual nail grooming, I put one coat of Caronia Posh after the base coat has dried. I let this dry for a bit then started to draw the stems using a black nail art pen. Two or 3 stems should be OK for each nail.

Using the white nail art pen, make the cherry blossoms by carefully placing 4-5 dots. Place a small pink dot in the center using a pink nail art pen. Make 2-3 flowers per nail. To finish, place 2-3 green dots to make the leaves to fill in the sparse areas.

Let dry then put 2 coats of natural-colored polish. You can use clearless polish but I find that the natural one makes the flowers look more, hmmm, romantic? 🙂

It took me longer than expected because I have trembling hands (and the company doctor told me I really need to see a specialist – but that’s not part of this story :p). I messed up 2 nails and I had to start from the base coat all over again.

But looking at the result…Not bad, if I say so myself. Not bad for a nail art noob. :p

Thumb with 3 flowers and 3 extra dots for sakura "buds"
