Horror of all horrors! My favourites Naia Kete and Charlotte Sometimes got eliminated from The Voice! >_< But that’s getting ahead of myself.
OK, so the much anticipated Live Shows finally started with artists from Team Blake and Team Xtina singing for survival and American fans get to choose who will advance to the next level. Viewers can vote for their favourites by phone or text, by the NBC website or by Facebook and via iTunes download. Very cool, huh?
For each team, only the 3 artists with the most number of votes will advance to the next round. The bottom 3 will have one final chance to sing to convince their coach to choose them. The coach then makes the tough decision of picking only one.
First up, Blake Shelton’s team:
TEAM BLAKE
- Jermaine Paul – I loved his performance of Living on a Prayer. It wasn’t exactly his song, but he showed everyone he can sing anything. I am trying to find downloads for this song…but in vain. 🙁
- RaeLynn – Props to Blake for choosing the Maroon 5 song Wake Up Call and turning it to country. Touch of genius. I still am not a country fan. Hehe.
- Erin Willett – Erin just gets better and better every week. The inner diva is just fighting to come out. Looking forward to seeing what other tricks she has up her sleeve.
- Jordis Unga – Her version of Heart’s Alone did not have enough power, so not like Jordis. Also, as much as I love the song, it’s been sung to death many times over by Pinoy belters and screechers so it kinda lost the novelty for me.
Bye-bye, The Voice – Naia Kete and Charlotte Sometimes
The bottom 3 for Team Blake are Naia, Jordis and Charlotte. Naia Kete’s got a voice as beautiful as her face. Too bad it wasn’t enough. Her final song If I Were A Boy really wasn’t her song. Same with Charlotte. I thought her performance wasn’t the Charlotte in the Battle Rounds and her emotional version of Iris wasn’t enough to make Blake choose her. Now, Jordis sang like it was the last song of her life. Her Wild Horses wasn’t loud — it was controlled and emotional and solid. It was the perfect song to propel her into Team Blake’s semifinal four.
TEAM XTINA
- Jesse Campbell – I thought What a Wonderful World is too tame a song for Jesse to showcase his incredible talent. But I was wrong. For the most part of the song, he was really mellow and it was relaxing to listen to him. But he ended it with such power and then the song became really his. Wow.
- Lindsay Pavao – I just heard Someone That I Used To Know on AXN Asia a day before The Voice airing, and I loved Lindsay’s unique take on the song. I just wish it had more power on the parts where it counts, like the chorus. And I don’t like the masks 😛
- Chris Mann – The song Bridge Over Troubled Water is perfect for his voice. It’s a no-brainer that he would move on to the next round.
- Ashley dela Rosa – I only began to notice her during the Battle Rounds and this time, she was much improved. She did Paris Oh-la-la for her final song and she performed like she wasn’t fighting to stay on the show. She worked the crowd and looked like she was having fun, all the time keeping her voice solid and powerful.
Bye-bye, The Voice – Sera Hill and Moses Stone
It’s not to say that Sera and Moses weren’t good enough to advance to the next round. They were just overshadowed by bigger voices in the team. Moses has great stage presence and can really work the crowd. Sera has a strong voice and in a short time, she can be a bigger diva than she is right now.
Coming up — Team Ceelo and Team Adam!
The Live Shows featuring Team Ceelo and Team Adam has just been aired on AXN Asia and I am watching the replay as I write this — and I stopped blogging long enough to ogle at James Massone and Tony Vincent. 😛 I am so excited for the announcement of winners tomorrow. 😀
