UST Growling Tigers — Slamdunk version??

First of all, I am still a little depressed at the UST loss to ADMU earlier today — I even had to sneak out from the meeting room to see if UST had won the game (meeting started in the last 2 mins of the game, epal no..di na lang naghintay).

But only SLIGHTLY depressed. It was a different UST team, that’s for sure. At the start of season 74, a lot of people predicted that USTe will end up at 6th place at most. AYAN! UST proved how wrong you were, haha. The Growling Tigers have a lot of heart — di mo mababayaran yan! I am so proud of the Tigers — I love you and I will be your supporter forever! ♥

Anyway, this just came to me last night — kakaisip kasi sa game today, kung ano ano na lang pumapasok sa utak ko…Which Slamdunk character best represents a UST Growling Tiger? Hmmm….

Akagi Takenori (center, #4) – Karim Abdul! – As if there was any other choice 😉 These two just scream POWER.  Our African Tiger King is the perfect match to Shohoku’s monster in the middle. Growl.

Mitsui Hisashi (Shooting guard, #14) – Jeric Teng – Some players excite with their slasher moves, but the sweet shooting Mitsui and Beng Beng Teng provide firepower from the rainbow territory. The Tengminator is a little more flamboyant, though. Hehe

Miyagi Ryota (point guard, #7) – Jeric Fortuna – Both Miyagi and Captain JFort are the reliable leaders in the court. Their speed and great ball handling abilities create many opportunities to score. But Fortuna has a one up against Miyagi — he is not arrogant, and he is also a leader outside the games; he is the team’s prayer leader and big brother 🙂

Sakuragi Hanamichi (power forward, #10) – Chris Camus – No doubt about it. I don’t mean the antics, of course. Camus is Sakuragi’s rebounding prowess, relentless defense and overall reliability — all contained in a poker-faced Rukawa package

Rukawa Kaede (Small forward, #11) – Kevin Ferrer – I initially thought Kevin Ferrer is a Mitsui. But he is more of a Rukawa both in position and moves. His versatility and athleticism allows him to make outside shots, slash to the basket and grab rebounds.

Yasuda Yasuharu – Kim Lo – Both Yasuda and Lo come off the bench. But when they do get fielded, they provide quality time for the team. I predict Kim Lo will become a vital cog in the Tigers’ lineup next year!

Anzai-sensei – Pido Jarencio, of course!

Argh, I couldn’t find one for Melo Afuang! I am missing Kogure, but he and Melo are very different. For me,  he is too Zen, too calm for Melo’s kind of intensity.

For me, these 3 Ryonan players resemble Adamson Falcons
Uozumi Jun – Manyara
Fukuda – Camson
Sendou Akira – Nuyles – for his leadership, his intensity…and how he keeps his composure in the toughest of games

I bid you oyasumi…I am off to watch the replay of the game. Go USTe forever! ^_^
